We approached the plugin the same way, with meticulous attention to how each stage interacts so the result captures not only the sound, but the attack, compression, response and feel of the complete rig. Many of the original pieces that made up these chains are now discontinued, scarce, collectible and increasingly expensive, putting a complete recreation out of reach for most players and fans. Southern Razor brings that entire start-to-finish approach into one plugin.

Each Southern Razor scene is a dedicated full chain from input to output. We did not stop at modelling an amplifier that sits in roughly the same tonal territory. The pre-EQ, gate behaviour, gain structure, amplifier voicing, output response and post processing are all treated as part of the sound, because changing any one of them changes the way the entire rig responds. Every album chain was built as one connected system so the feel under the fingers is as important as the final frequency curve.

Every album-inspired chain includes its own dedicated Clean, Crunch and Lead path. These are not simple gain variations: each channel is voiced for a specific role, from pristine compressed cleans through the signature solid-state rhythm sound to a fluid, sustaining lead voice.
Two dedicated pre-amplifier EQ stages shape the guitar before it reaches the amp. These are part of the album-chain voicing rather than generic after-the-fact tone controls. Each stage includes independent bypass control so you can hear exactly what it contributes.
Southern Razor uses one gate before the amplifier and another after it. The goal is tight palm mutes and clean stops while preserving the natural response of the gain stages.
The built-in D/F section adds the wide, moving modulation character associated with classic 90s metal guitar production. Use it for stereo spread, swirling lead textures, harmonics and larger-than-life guitar parts.
Album Settings returns the selected chain to its stored signature configuration. Practical adjustments such as gain, volume and gate threshold can remain personal without automatically cancelling the album state, while changes to core voicing controls clearly indicate that you have moved away from the stored chain.
Tune without leaving the plugin. The tuner is designed to track guitar fundamentals reliably, including lower tunings, and includes A-440, A-435 and A-425 reference-pitch options.
Quickly set the incoming guitar level so the amp and processing stages respond consistently across different guitars, pickups and audio interfaces.
Switch the output-response mode directly from the main panel for an additional change in feel and final voicing.
Scale the interface down for compact sessions or expand it for larger displays while preserving the original layout proportions.
A standalone application is included alongside the plugin formats, so Southern Razor can be used without opening a DAW.
Southern Razor uses HALF//SUN's offline activation terminal. Full licences activate locally using your purchase email and licence key. The complete plugin can also be activated as a 72-hour trial using the same built-in system, with a live countdown shown while the trial is active.
